John and his XO-1

I stopped by Bike Kitchen to fix my brake cable. I met John, who is the original owner of this XO-1. He was there to fix a flat tire. John originally owned a purple 1992 XO-1, but within 3 day of owning it, it was run over by a car. The Bridgestone rep was kind enought to send him a 1993 frame as a replacement.

John also went on to say that his bike was actually stolen and recovered recently. Truly a bike with many stories.

Seriously stoked for Manny. His Bleriot was stolen from him last year. Now he's rocking a beautiful orange Riv Hillborne.

The right fenders

Finally! I was looking for some SKS plastic ones in 20. No dice. I then got some Wald mid-weight metal fenders. Those wouldn't fit. At that point I tried Wald shorties front and back. I really did't like them too well. Too floppy. Ramona Wheelright suggested I try ebay for some old school Schwinn fenders. I found some late 50s/early 60s fenders. McCauley fenders. Clicked buy-it-now and they were on Bubo by Monday night.

Same but different

I was looking at Ethan Gorgi's pic and it reminded me of mine I took around the same time. Opposite ends of the country, almost the same pic. :)

SF Bike Party pics

I went to the SF Bike Birthday Party. Fun. Saw Phil of Ride SFO, Lisa from Rickshaw and Lauren from Scoutmob. I actually saw a street fight on Polk. (hadoken!) Here are some pics that I snapped. None of the fight, though. :D






I met George at the Bike Party. We chatted about our minis. I was assuming he got his in Japan. He told me a welder friend built his frame 15 years ago. We test drove each others bikes. Pretty damn cool. Nice meeting you, George.

I got a sewing machine to do some projects. On the list was a burrito wrap with pockets.

Goggles

I wanted a pair of goggles for when I decide to wear contacts to work and also to be a "on style" pair when going on tweed rides. I looked at a bunch of welding goggles on amazon. I didn't want it to be steampunk, just older looking. I decided to go with lightweight motorcycle ones and "oldify" them. This is the result. I like em.
